Group Courses

Ethos

The art classes in the Passionart Studio are based on the ASTAR process which may be summarised as follows:

The orientation of the methodology is the development of non-judgement, with the emphasis being on the experience of the process, rather than on the final product. Some classical art techniques are offered in a non-restrictive, accepting manner. The accent is on accessing and expressing one’s creative spirit, developing insights which can be translated into fulfilling ‘life-tools’.

The Courses are offered each with a particular thread or focus, such as ‘Creative Beginnings’, ‘colour course’ or ‘drawing course’. They may be themed such as with questions like ‘who am I?’, ‘my body image?’ ‘how do I express both masculine & feminine in me?’ or ‘what am I to learn from this pandemic?’ Please feel free to ask for a particular theme if you would like one.

  • A short relaxation, visualisation or meditation
  • A warm up to begin the art process
  • The main activity employing a variety of materials and methods available, including collage, inks, water colours, clay, printing, pressings or acrylics
  • A reflection process

Investment

The cost of the full 6-week course is R2,100; this comes down to R350.00 per 3-hour class. The fee may be paid in 2 installments of R1050.00. In this case, the first instalment needs to be paid in advance as a non-refundable deposit to secure your place, and the second at the start of a course. Please do not pay the deposit until a starting date has been determined.

At this time of the Covid Pandemic, we will be abiding by all Covid protocols, including compulsory use of masks, social distancing, limiting numbers in each class, sanitising the equipment before every use and offering sanitiser for personal use during classes.

A Creative Evening with Friends

Would you enjoy a creative evening with friends?

I am opening my home and studio to you to invite between 5 and 7 friends to join you (6 – 8 people/3 or 4 couples) for an experiential dinner.

The evening will comprise an ASTAR-style creative experience: three hours of art, beginning with a meditation or relaxation, followed by a warm up, main activity, reflection… and a home cooked, specially prepared, delicious meal.

No previous art experience is needed – just an open mind and good friends. Bring protection for your clothes.

The minimum charge per person is R500 depending on choice of meal you would like. This includes all materials and the meal.

If you would like some wine with your meal please bring that with you. I am happy to accommodate themes and/or dietary preferences.

This class is available on request, so please contact me to schedule yours.

I look forward to hosting you all for a warm, delicious and creative evening.
